They have several lines of home automation devices that manage light switches, dimmers, occupancy sensors, HVAC controls, etc. The lutron_caseta integration in Home Assistant is responsible for communicating with the Lutron Caseta Smart Bridge for the Caseta product line of dimmers, switches, shades, and sensors. It will also communicate with the Lutron Radio RA2 Main Repeater for the RA2 Select product line of dimmers, switches, shades, and sensors. Once you set up the Lutron Smart Bridge, you can control your lights and set up scenes using the Lutron app. For basic automation, the Lutron app is more than sufficient and never misses a task .

They are also leading the way for developing smart lighting controls, and other controls for items you might find around a house, such as lamps, shades, and ceiling fans. The first thing you’re going to notice about the Lutron Caséta is that it is only able to connect to up to 75 devices . Typically, this is going to be more than enough for your average smart home’s lighting needs. 75 individual components can easily cover a decent sized home.
You lose the color thing if you're into that, but I'm not anymore, reliability has been flawless. After setup, fans will appear in Home Assistant using an entity_id based on the name used in the Lutron mobile app. For example, a light switch called ‘Master Bedroom Ceiling Fan’ will appear in Home Assistant as fan.master_bedroom_ceiling_fan. Open & Close may not be available depending on what type of shades you have. The devices are not assigned to any rooms yet, so you should be able to find them if you scroll all the way to the bottom, under the “Linked to you” section. The names should match however you had them named in the Lutron app, all you need to do is assign them to rooms.

The RA2 Select system not only features more options when it comes to light switches, there are also built-in lighting options and other devices that only work with the RA2 Select. The Lutron Caséta is able to connect two fewer devices, but has a lower price tag and is able to integrate with brands like Samsung and Logitech. The RA2 Select can connect to up to 200 devices and in general features more options than the Caséta, but it does demand a higher price tag.

This step only applies if you have multiple homes setup on your account. As only one home is supported through a single Google Home account at this time. The bridge itself is a little tricky on setup but knew that ahead of time looking at reviews and youtube setup videos. Bridge works great after setup and immediately recognized my Caseta switch when I activated it. This is the feature that people talk about the least when deciding which new smart home technology to buy.
The Lutron Caseta scene platform allows you to control your Smart Bridge Scenes that are created in the Lutron mobile app. For non-dimmable lights or switched loads, see the switch section on this page.
