We wrote this song with the hope that it could remind even one person that life does go on and nothing is forever. The future can be so daunting especially in times of uncertainty, and it can so often feel like you’re stuck without a way out, but this song is a sign to keep moving forward because it will get better. She was inspired from a young age by artists, like Michelle Branch, who could convey a story in so much detail and captivate their audience from start to finish. Charlotte has always wanted to create a safe space at her shows where people can escape reality for a while and be free to dance and sing in a crowd surrounded by other people who are there for the exact same reason.

You’ve played shows with My Chemical Romance, YUNGBLUD, and Ava Max, what has been your favourite live performance or tour experience? I’ve had so much fun touring over the last year and they’ve all been such a vital part of my growth as an artist and as a human. I think my favourite experience would be the current tour I’m on right now with PVRIS because it’s the first time I’ve ever toured outside of the country and it’s truly been the most rewarding experience of my life. You moved from Massachusetts to Nashville at 18 to pursue your songwriting, can you tell us about that experience and how it shaped your career? Moving to Nashville was the best decision because it was so challenging but forced me to fight harder for my career than I ever had. I took every opportunity that came my way and learned so much from the incredible artists and songwriters that live there, I’m so grateful for their wisdom and their support.
Instead she focused entirely on her songwriting, ramping up drastically during lockdown when she released seven singles in 2020 that were recorded in her bedroom studio. Charlotte Sands grew up inspired by both fiery rock bands such as Taking Back Sunday and All Time Low, but also classic singer-songwriters such as Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt. By the time she was 18, she was eager to move from small town Massachusetts to a place that would help her to develop her own talents as a writer.
It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done but once I took that initial jump the rest started falling into place and the other obstacles didn’t seem so daunting. She was desperate to fit in during middle school and high school, but aimlessly floated around on the margins of social circles. Yet, today the electric-blue-haired artist is seemingly a life raft for Gen Z-ers and beyond, who are plagued by these same feelings of angst, anxiety, and alienation. Through tireless hard work, self-reflection, and a winding journey that included stealing her mother’s car; missing a crucial flight; and taking a chance on social media, she channeled those haunting feelings into her most powerful work yet.
I love festivals because I feel like there are so many people that don’t know me and that feels like a challenge but I love the headlining shows because it feels like a reunion with all of your friends. You’ve exceeded 135 million streams, what has been your proudest moment in your career so far? I’ve had so many moments that I look back on its impossible to choose one. There are so many moments that I am proud of and I am so lucky to be able to say that.
